And I also notice that your Quote of the Moment at this particular moment is from Hafiz, my favorite Persian poet. My father-in-law has a Hafiz quote inscribed on his tombstone in Farsi. Not too may people quote Hafiz. Nice!

I find it funny that on such an elaborate timepiece, it is all but impossible to tell what time it actually is This wiki article has a list of some other famous ones.

Years ago I saw another less elaborate clock but somewhat similar, in Germany, probably Wurzburg… It attracted quite a throng — as yours did… Cheap thrills…

Indeed it must be! You can take a tour of the tower and see some of its inner workings – we didn’t get to that, but if there’s a next time, I certainly would be interested to see how it all works.
