Both the Cuernos and the Torres are most dramatic at dawn. If you stay at Hosteria Pehoe (the island with foot bridge), you'll find yourself gathered at a lookout before dawn with at least a few other people. If clear to the east, when the sun breaches the horizon, the granitic rocks (white parts) light up with a spectacular orangish-pink color.

I have one of my own here, but it is after the sun had been up for nearly an hour ... the orangy glow had gone away at that point.

As far as I know, there aren't any wild horses in this region. My guess is that horse is one of the several outfitters in and around the park.

Thanks for putting all the names of the animals ... I've seen some of these but never knew what they were called.

ScienceGuy: Thank you - the Cuernos & Torres are indescribably beautiful to be sure. I don't know that the horses we saw on this day were actually wild - they may well have been privately-owned horses on a shared wild area.

Salto Grande looks cool, especially from the video I just saw. The light did not at all diminish your photos of the Cuernos del Paine. They are probably my favorite moutains (aestetically) in the world. And I thought wild horses live only in Mongolia. Must be some that the early explorers left behind.

Montucky: Thanks!

Klaus: Thanks for the tip - I'll check it out. My P&S camera takes movies in quicktime format, but I imagine I can track down a converter easily enough.

Sandpiper: Welcome back - I'm glad you're at least somewhat re-energized! I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Patagonia if the opportunity ever presents itself - it's an amazing place in so many ways.

I'm catching up after a few days. Just looked at your previous posts, and this one, and they are wonderful, Adam. I always imagined it would be a fantastic trip to take and we have talked about going for years. Your pictures and writings have definitely shown what a beautiful location this is. Thanks for sharing!

Great to walk with you and see what you saw. Magnificent landscapes and wonderful animal shots, Adam!
For the Video editing - you probably already have one on your PC (if you use one). Movie Maker is pretty straight forward and easy to use for standard edits. You might however need a converter from your camera's movie format to avi or wmv.
Cheers, Klaus
