S & I did some mid-day birding around Pillar Point in Princeton-by-the-Sea today. Due to the noon hour there wasn’t a whole lot afoot, but we got good looks at flocks of Sanderlings and Black Turnstones.
Got several year birds, mainly because I haven’t been birding the coast much at all, and a group of 3 Aechmophorus grebes (I think Western Grebe, but am not positive).
Today’s list is:
+ Black Turnstone
- Brewer’s Blackbird
- Brown Pelican
+ Heermann’s Gull
+ Sanderling
+ Surfbird
+ Western? Grebe
- Western Gull
- White-crowned Sparrow
- Willet
* = life bird, + = year bird
